Food and facilities
All the extra little bits to help you have a great visit
Our Café is currently closed while we work on a brand new food offer for 2025! You’re more than welcome to bring your own food to the Museum to enjoy in our indoor picnic space, or pop out to visit one of the many family-friendly places to eat on our doorstep
Local places to eat
You’ll find a selection of local cafes and restaurants on our doorstep. You’re very welcome to pop-out and get food and head back to the Museum after, there’s no restriction on re-entering the Museum.
You can find details of local places to eat here, or ask our staff for details when you’re here. Many of them are just a few steps away and include family-friendly pizza places, pubs and cafes.
Picnics
Feel free to bring your own food into the Museum. You can enjoy this in our picnic room or outside in the courtyard. There’s also a big park called the Buryfield (with two playgrounds!) just a few minutes’ walk away which is perfect for picnics. Just ask a staff member to point you in the right direction.
Family friendly
High chairs are available to use in the picnic seating areas and breastfeeding is welcome throughout the site. Free tap water is available and you can re-fill your water bottles from the fountain in the courtyard. There are baby changing facilities and a buggy store nearby.
Shop
The Museum shop stocks all the Roald Dahl books, souvenirs, games and gifts you could wish for! You can also browse and buy Roald Dahl products online. Look out for special edition books only available to buy from the Museum.
Loos
The Museum has a block of loos divided into male and female (watch out, these loos might talk to you while you’re in there!). There are also two unisex loos by the café kiosk, one of which is accessible. There’s also a larger unisex accessible toilet by the Story Centre.
Accessibility
The Museum has level access with wide doors, except for a small step to one of our eating/activity spaces (a ramp is available) and our upstairs rooms which can be reached by a lift. We have two accessible loos and hearing loops at the tills. There’s lots more information on our Access page including our Access Policy, photos and videos. If you have any questions about access please email us hello@roalddahlmuseum.org or call 01494 892192.
If you would like to call us using the Next Generation Text Service (NGT) service please call 18001 01494 892192.
Changing Places toilet
The nearest Changing Places toilet is located at Tesco Amersham, London Road West, Amersham, Buckinghamshire, HP7 0HA. This is a 15-minute drive from the Museum. Find out more about the Tesco Amersham Changing Places toilet.
For very young visitors
We have a nappy change with changing table and spare supplies if you need any. We also have high chairs for use in our eating spaces and a buggy store by the ticket desk.
