Twits and Tricks half-term at the Roald Dahl Museum

By The Roald Dahl Museum

Celebrate your favourite mischievous pair, Mr and Mrs Twit, and a whole host of tricks in Roald Dahl’s books this October half-term, 26 October to 3 November.
What’s included in Museum admission?

Visit on any day of the week in half-term and you’ll be able to enjoy:

  • Storytelling
  • Gallery trails
  • Drop-in crafts
  • All included in your admission ticket and perfect for ages 5 to 12!

Storytelling in the holidays features readings from The Twits and Revolting Rhymes, two brilliant books full of tricks and scheming! Our popular storytelling sessions allow you to sit back and enjoy the books, or join in with noises and actions.

Pick up a free gallery trail where you’ll discover more tricks-related capers as you explore. You can then return to the ticket desk for a special stamp.

We’ll also be running a SEND quiet day on Saturday 26 October, with sensory storytelling, Museum sounds turned down and reduced visitor numbers.

Tremendous things are in store for you!

Many wonderful

surprises await you!

October half-term workshops

For even more Tricks-related fun why not book the kids on to one of our workshops. For a chance to get messy and have fun with clay join in with our Crodswoggling Clay Critters workshop which runs Monday to Friday. Great for kids aged 5 and up, but also for adventurous adults (go on, you know you want to!).

Those who prefer something a bit more active might want to join our Terrific Tricks Trek on Friday 1 November. This guided walk leads you around the village of Great Missenden with lots of stops for readings along the way. The bits of the books that you’ll hear are packed with tricks and hilarious anecdotes!

Spooky goings on

For the ultimate Halloween evening you mustn’t miss our Twilight Tricks Halloween Special. Taking place on Wednesday 30 October from 4.30pm to 7.30pm the Museum will be open late especially. Join in with scarier storytelling from The Witches, make a craft Halloween mask and explore the courtyard with torches. There will be feeling boxes to discover if you’re brave enough! The Canny Cafe in the Courtyard will be serving spooky drinks and Halloween sweet treats.

If spooky storytelling is your thing join our October My Year walk for a Spooky Special on Sunday 27 October. The walk leads you into the woods that inspired stories such as Fantastic Mr Fox and Danny the Champion of the World. On the way you’ll stop for some spooky, atmospheric storytelling.
