February half-term at the Roald Dahl Museum

By Kim Osborne

Bring a little bit of magic to half-term this February with a visit to the Roald Dahl Museum

With the days still short and chilly, there’s nothing better than a day at the Museum in the winter months. Be inspired, have some quality family time and join in with some hands-on activities.

Storytelling

Join us everyday in the holidays (15 to 23 February) for storytelling from Matilda and The BFG. Our expert storytellers will captivate you with extracts from these magical stories. You’ll head to our Wondrous Woods room and sit among the trees while the words wash around you like music. Join in with actions and noises if you like.

Clay workshops

For something a little bit different why not get your hands messy? Our clay sessions are back and are always the most popular activity we run. Partly because they are pretty good fun, but also because you can be as messy as you like and leave the tidying up to us (do wear old clothes though, we’re not doing your laundry!). Adults are welcome to join in too, so you don’t have to have to miss out on all the excitement.

Walks

If you need a bit of a leg-stretch and fresh air, the village of Great Missenden calls! It’s where the Museum is based and it was Roald Dahl’s home turf. Lots of the local sights directly inspired the stories, from Matilda’s library to Sophie’s orphanage. Our family guided walk on Friday 21 February will help you explore these sights with storytelling from the books along the way.

The Filling Station

Feeling peckish while you’re here? Then make a stop at our new Filling Station. Our cafe kiosk in the courtyard is opening for half-term and serving up speciality teas, coffees and hot chocolate from local suppliers, and homemade cakes and sausage rolls – again from some amazing local makers. Plus a selection of cold drinks and crisps. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of indoor seating for when that February weather strikes!
