Access information
This step-free walk leads you out of the Museum along pavements, some of which can be narrow. The section of the walk up to the church is along a steep road. One part of the walk is over a playing field which may be muddy.
The walk lasts about 45 to 50 minutes.

You’ll visit the woods that inspired Roald Dahl, spot signs of spring with your magical Matilda eyes, listen to heart-warming extracts from the story and get a great dose of the outdoors.
Afterward you’ll head back to the Museum for refreshments that include your choice of homemade cake and a speciality tea, coffee or hot chocolate from our lovely local suppliers.

Food and drink
You choice of refreshments will come from The Filling-Station at the Museum. Our hot drinks and cakes are all from specially selected local producers. You can find out more on our Filling-Station page.
Walk route
The walk leads you out of the Museum along pavements past the old, characterful buildings of Great Missenden. We stop to look at buildings which inspired the stories, and gather at Matilda’s library on the High Street. We visit the storytelling chair on the playing field and then head up to the Church of St Peter and St Paul’s, which dates back to the 14th Century and is the final resting place of Roald Dahl.
The walk lasts about 45 t0 50 minutes.
