My Year Walk – December

Sunday 22 December

Book today
Embrace the Christmas season on a guided Roald Dahl countryside walk

Wrap up warm and head out into the woods. On the way you’ll listen to extracts from Roald Dahl’s My Year and other stories set in the local landscape that inspired the books.

This month we’ll be reading extracts from the December chapter of My Year, Roald Dahl’s last book. You’ll learn about Roald Dahl’s take on the changing seasons, with a few seasonal extracts thrown in. You’ll also find out about one of the tricks Roald Dahl played one Christmas as a schoolboy. Once you’re in the woods we’ll read from some other classics such as Fantastic Mr Fox. A great way to get out and stretch your legs before the excitement of Christmas.

For age 5 and over.
£4 per person in addition to Museum entry

Walk route

The My Year walk leads you across fields and into Angling Spring Wood. There is a short, steep uphill section and a short, steel downhill section. Paths are unmade and may be muddy.  Please wear appropriate, sturdy footwear. Not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

“Great to walk in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside and listen to Michael talk about the life and work of Dahl and read from his diary. Excellent morning. Thank you”
